What to Look Out for When Buying Ford Bronco Sport Jacks and Accessories?

Jack Types and Weight Capacities

Off-road adventurers know that having reliable recovery gear is essential when dealing with challenging terrains where every little wrong step counts.

When it comes to selecting a jack for recovery situations, several options offer varying weight capacities.

Favored by off-road enthusiasts, Hi-Lift jacks usually weigh around 4,660 pounds to 7,000 pounds (2 to 3.5 tons), while bottle jacks, known for their compact size and high weight capacity, can range from 4,000 pounds to 40,000 pounds (2 tons to 20 tons) or more.

The standard scissor jack that comes with the Ford Bronco Sport is designed for supporting the weight of the vehicle but isn’t going to help you when wanting to recover a vehicle heavier than the Bronco Sport.

It's important to select a jack with a weight capacity greater than that of the vehicle to ensure recovery operations are safe and effective.

Always refer to specific manufacturers' instructions for accurate weight ratings and usage guidelines.

Jack Accessories

A Ford Bronco Sport jack base plate is a sturdy piece of hardware that provides a larger surface area for the jack to sit on while a jack lift pad is a rubber or plastic attachment that fits onto the jack's lifting mechanism and creates a cushion between the jack and the car’s lifting points.

Jack extensions, as the name might suggest, allow you to raise the car up eve more while wheel chocks are a good addition if you don’t want to risk the car rolling away when lifted.

Jack handle keepers are designed to keep the jack in place while storage bags keep your jack properly stored when not in use.

Adapters allow you to increase the versatility of your jack, allowing for different mounting locations.

Build Materials and Durability

Lastly, we also need to talk about build materials and durability as hardly anyone is ever going to be confident enough to let subpar materials hold their Ford Bronco Sport models.

For many people, steel is the preferred material for jacks and jack accessories due to its durability and availability, making it able to withstand impact and abuse for an extended period.

Aluminum and alloy materials, on the other hand, can be used for components that depend less on weight, as they are lighter.

To extend the lifespan of your gear and protect it against corrosion, it's recommended to use strong welds and various protective coatings, such as powder coatings or zinc coatings.
